Amanda Jayne (aka Goss) MBACP. PGDip Couns. MA (Couns)
After going through several difficult issues of my own I finally sought the help of a Therapist. It was a life changing experience for me, and one which has enabled me to lead a happier and more fulfilled life. I was very nervous about seeking counselling and lucky to find an excellent Counsellor with whom I felt comfortable. I do therefore understand how important it is to find a Therapist with whom you feel completely at ease, so feel free to call me for an informal chat.
I work with adults on a variety of difficult issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, couples counselling, divorce and separation, abuse, low self-esteem, stress, bereavement, self-harm, loneliness, suicidal feelings, separation anxiety, eating disorders, ocd, anger management, addiction, work issues, lack of motivation etc. amongst others. I specialise in Couples Counselling and have been working in this area for over 10 years helping couples in crisis re-connect and understand each other. Whether it is to stay together or amicably separate I can help ease the process and instil harmony through difficult times.
I work with other companies providing Counselling for employees.
I hold counselling sessions at my comfortable, quiet consulting room in London W2, also at The Practice Rooms, Greenwich, London. We also have a team who work at St Ann's House, St Ann's Street, right in the centre of Kings Lynn. The sessions will be for a duration of 50 minutes.
I also offer online counselling. Perhaps you travel often or cannot get here, or maybe it is difficult for you to fit the travel time into your busy week. Online sessions are as effective as face to face counselling and quick and easy to set up. Contact me for details and we can try a first session to see if you are comfortable with it before we plan more sessions.
Our time together will be spent exploring the issues that you bring in a safe and supporting environment. Together we will work on the issues which are affecting your life to find a way for you to deal with what is going on for you, and help you to resolve them so that you can feel happier and more at ease. I understand that it can be very difficult to talk about certain issues and I will try to help you feel as comfortable with this as is possible.
Like many of us I have had to deal with some difficulties in my life. After many years searching for a fulfilling career in the helping profession, I trained as a Psychotherapist and I love the job that I do, particularly as I have been on the receiving end of therapy and I know that it can be life changing.
Lots of us just need someone neutral to talk to who will not judge us and who will have great empathy for what we are going through. Lots of us need help to come to terms with what we have been through in life and help us find a way to lead a happier and more fulfilled life. Perhaps you have a particular issue or perhaps you are not quite sure yet what is making life difficult for you.
If you have any concerns that you would like me to answer with regards to counselling/psychotherapy I would be happy to answer them for you if I can. What I always suggest is that we have a first session to see how we get on. If you feel that the session went well and you are comfortable with your therapist we can arrange further sessions. If, for any reason, you don't feel that it's quite right for you, then we will help you find another more suitable Counsellor, or perhaps another avenue you might explore. It's so important for you to feel totally at ease so that we can work together on the issues.
Please feel free to call me or email me and I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully meeting you too. I am very happy to have a chat on the phone and answer any questions you may have before we make the appointment. We can then arrange a first session, at the end of which you and I can decide if we will carry on together or if you need to see one of my team. I look forward to meeting you.
(If you would like to see testimonials, these can be found under the tab 'Articles and Testimonials'.
I also offer focusing and focusing training, please see separate tab for details.
OUR TEAM:
Rebecca Barber: Children/Adolescent and Adult Counsellor (ADPC) 1-1 & Family Counselling
Advanced Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling - CTI
I have been a Counsellor for the past 17 years having completed my training in 2002.
I am a Mum of 4 children: 3 are in their 20s and I have a son of 10 years old. I am a creative and artist person and in my spare time enjoy yoga, running, music, games and watching films and walking on the beach.
My career began as a Graphic and Studio artist in 1987 and following on from this I returned to my studies after having my 3 daughters, gaining A levels and BTEC National Certificate in Social Care and then following on to complete the RSA Counselling skills Certificate and then a 2 year Advanced Diploma in Counselling, gaining 100 training hours with supervision and personal therapy.
From 1996, I initially volunteered as a Befriender and also then as a Counsellor for a local Counselling Service (One to One project – working with adults with varying mental health challenges – longer term therapy – up to 1 year). AT this time I also worked for Off Centre, Counselling; a Youth provision working with young people and this too was longer term work. Alongside my training I was also working for the National Childrens Home as a Lifeskills/Employment and Personal Development Trainer, working with 16 – 21 year olds.
From then I worked as a Personal Advisor for Connexions as well as a floating Support Worker for young people in their tenancies. I was then employed at JBS Training as a Programme Manager/Youth Counsellor offering brief counselling to 14 – 21 year olds. After 3 years working at JBS, I gained employment as a Substance Misuse Worker/Counsellor for NORCAS and took a break to have my son and returning to work in a Womens refuge and Pre-school.
More recently I work for a Youth Charity as a Youth Counsellor, working with 11 -18 year olds, I have been working in this post for 6 years.
This is brief therapy of 6 -8 sessions with also parent/young person sessions.
I have a real passion working with a wide range of clients and have gained a broad range of skills enhancing my work as a Counsellor. I would describe my practice to be authentic, sensitive, grounded and creative.
Working with Children/Young People in a Counselling setting is very different to working with adults and in my work with younger clients I work in a playful, artistic and encouraging way to help those find a way to express their feelings and so necessary to be flexible to match individuals differences.
During your counselling sessions, which are 50 minutes in duration, we will use the time for you/your child to feel at ease and have a sense of feeling able to share any worries and work through these in a safe and confidential setting.

Richard Brotherston-Barnett: 1-1 Adult Counselling Online; EMDR; Trauma-informed Therapy
Richard Brotherston-Barnett MBACP. Adv Dip Person-Centred Counselling, Adv Dip Addiction Studies, EMDR
Prior to qualifying as a counsellor in 2007, Richard had a successful career in corporate IT/Finance in which he developed a keen interest in workplace culture and wellbeing. This led to his eventual move into the world of health and social care and a significant amount of time working within the field of substance misuse and addiction whilst also developing his own private practice.
His experience spans a broad range of settings including the NHS where he began as a front-line therapist and progressed to managing a multi-disciplinary substance-misuse service both within the community and across the secure estate (prisons, courts and custody suites).
In more recent years, Richard has broadened his training and experience in the field of trauma, leading to his qualification in EMDR and working alongside a number of specialist services supporting survivors of sexual abuse.
Whilst his core model stems from a humanistic, person-centred approach, his subsequent personal development and training enables him to draw from an integrative toolkit, working collaboratively with his clients in a safe, empathic and authentic space to help them discover what works for them in their own unique and personal journey and at their own pace.
He has also undertaken specific professional development in the field of neurodiversity and works as part of a UK-wide network of therapists working with the emotional repercussions of dyslexia and neurodiversity.
Richard has always been a passionate advocate of the third-sector, spending many years not only in roles within it, but also co-establishing voluntary sector organisations including a successful local LGBTQIA forum and latterly an international animal-welfare non-profit.
Zoe Wilson: 1-1 Adult Counselling Online/Face to Face; Young Persons Therapist
Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling; Registered Member of The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society
Having worked in various roles, I always felt as though I wasn't in the right career and realised what I loved about all of the jobs I've done is the human connection involved. I realised I wanted to do something that made a difference for people in a personal, deeper way and counselling stood out to me. As a deep thinker, I've always loved hearing stories from people with a curiosity to know why we think and behave in the ways we do.
We’ve all been through our share of life’s trials and tribulations, and I’m no different. Having overcome obstacles in my own life I remain open minded to the struggles that my clients bring to their sessions, with a passionate belief that no one persons struggle is more important than any other persons.
Since qualifying I have worked as a school counsellor in secondary schools and sixth forms. I find it easy to connect with young people and enjoy working with them as much as I enjoy working with adults.
Amber Ward-Goss: 1-1 Adult Counselling Online/Face to Face; Young Persons Therapist
As a teenager I experienced a lot of difficulties, and I was given sessions with a counsellor through my high school. I remember it being the favourite part of my week. I could speak to her without any worries, I felt at ease, and I felt listened to and understood.
I always enjoyed reading self help books and learning about psychology and how the mind works. At the age of 23, I decided to start training as a counsellor. I completed a Certificate in counselling theory and then went on to study the Access to HE Counselling and Psychology course held at East Coast College. Once I’d completed this, I then studied a BA(Hons) in Person-Centred counselling through the University of Suffolk.
In 2018, I also became a Level 2 EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Practitioner. This is a holistic tapping therapy that I may use in a session alongside talking therapy, if the client is happy to do so or requests it.
I have been working as a counsellor supporting young people and people who have experienced pregnancy loss, baby loss and pregnancy choices since 2022. I endeavour to offer all my clients a safe, non-judgemental and empathic space that we can use to work through any emotions, traumas or events that have been the reason you have reached out for therapy today. I have worked with anxiety, complex PTSD, bipolar, depression, OCD and more.
I understand how daunting and scary it can be to start therapy, but using a Person-Centred approach, you will lead the sessions and bring with you what you feel needs some work. There is never any pressure to discuss something you don’t want to. I am available for sessions face to face or online.
